Relaxed, candid family photography across Koh Samui's quietest beaches — holidays, reunions and multi-generation gatherings, captured in golden-hour light by a husband-and-wife team ranked Top 30 family photographers worldwide.
Plan your session on WhatsAppYou came all this way to be together — so the last thing your family needs is a photographer barking poses while the kids melt down and grandpa squints into the sun. That's not how we work. Thomas Kart Studio is a husband-and-wife team, Thomas and Angela, with 20 years behind the camera and a place in MyWed's Top 30 family photographers worldwide. We shoot the way your family actually is on holiday: a little chaotic, a lot affectionate, completely real.
A Koh Samui family session with us is a slow, easy hour on the sand while the light turns gold. We follow the laughter, the piggyback rides, the three generations squeezed into one frame, and the quiet moment when nobody realises the camera is even there. Angela is brilliant with shy toddlers and reluctant teenagers alike; Thomas reads the light and the horizon so every frame feels cinematic without ever feeling staged. You leave with photographs your family will still be passing around in twenty years.
Where we shoot matters as much as when. For families we usually steer away from the crowds of Chaweng and toward the island's gentler, golden-sand pockets. Choeng Mon, on the quiet north-east tip, is our favourite for little ones — shallow, calm water, soft sand and a backdrop of Koh Fan that catches beautiful late-afternoon light. Bophut and the Fisherman's Village shoreline give you warm, characterful sunset tones and a charming old-town backdrop if you want a few frames away from the beach. For wide-open space and dramatic sky, Lipa Noi and Nathon on the west coast face the sunset directly — the only side of the island where the sun actually sinks into the sea, which makes them unbeatable for golden-hour silhouettes. We'll match the location to your family's age range, your villa, and the tide, then build the timing around the light rather than the other way around.

Some of our most-loved sessions are the big ones — the family reunion that took two years and three time zones to organise, the multi-generation trip where grandparents meet grandchildren on a beach for the first time, the milestone holiday everyone flew in for. These moments deserve more than a phone propped on a beach bag. We're used to wrangling large groups without losing the warmth: a few classic everyone-looking-at-the-camera frames for the grandparents' wall, then plenty of loose, candid coverage of the cousins running wild and the in-jokes flying. Because we're a full in-house team, we can add cinematic video and drone to a family session too — a short film of your holiday, or a sweeping aerial of everyone gathered on the sand, is the kind of keepsake people genuinely cry over. We shoot in English first, so there's never a language barrier between us and a nervous five-year-old or a jet-lagged grandparent.
Holiday time is precious, so we keep the whole thing light. There's no shot list to memorise and nothing to dress up for unless you want to — barefoot, linen and a bit of windswept hair photographs beautifully here. A typical session runs around an hour, timed to finish as the sun goes down, and we're happy to work around nap schedules and dinner reservations. Delivery is fast, too: you'll have a teaser gallery within 1–3 days, often before you've even flown home, and your full edited collection follows shortly after — perfect for sharing with the relatives who couldn't make the trip. Family sessions start from 10,000 THB for photography, with cinematic video, drone and make-up available as add-ons, and a 30% deposit secures your date.

Golden hour — the 60–90 minutes before sunset — is ideal. The light is soft and warm, the heat has eased, and the beaches are quieter, which makes a huge difference with young children. We plan the session start time around the day's sunset and your family's nap or dinner schedule so nobody is tired or overheated.
Absolutely — multi-generation trips and reunions are some of our favourite sessions. We're experienced at directing big groups warmly and quickly, mixing a few posed frames for the grandparents with lots of natural, candid coverage of everyone together. We can also add drone for a memorable aerial of the whole family on the beach.
For families with small children we love Choeng Mon for its calm, shallow water and soft light. Bophut and Fisherman's Village offer warm tones and old-town character, while Lipa Noi and Nathon on the west coast face the sunset directly for dramatic golden-hour photos. We can also shoot at your own villa or resort beach so there's no travel with tired kids.
You'll receive a teaser gallery within 1–3 days of the session — often before your holiday is even over — so you can start sharing with relatives right away. Your full edited collection follows shortly after, with delivery times depending on the package you choose.
